Zara Giles (nee Glover, pictured left), England, set the pace in the first block of the women's qualifying in the 45th QubicaAMF Bowling World Cup on Monday morning at Melaka International Bowling Center in Melaka, Malaysia. The multiple World and European champion felled 1805 pins over eight games, an average of 225.63.
Evgenia Tsarkova, Russia, finisher her block with a huge 269, the highest game in the tournament thus far, to jump into second place with 1751 (218.88). The 66 women will return on Tuesday afternoon for the second qualifying block.
Zara Giles (l.), England, averaged 222.88 on the
third day of qualifying in the women's QubicaAMF Bowling World Cup in
Melaka, Malaysia, en route to finish atop the leaderboard for the third
consecutive day and to lead the top 24 players into the quarterfinals with 5275 pinfall total and an average of 219.79 over 24 games. Uliana Grosu (r.), Moldova, hit the cutoff number for 24th place with 4743 or an average of 197.63.

games. Giles maintained a 21-pin lead over second placed Evgenia Tsarkova, Russia. Caroline Lagrange (r.), Canada, was the sole women, who cracked the 1800-bar on Tuesday en route to leap into third place.
