Celebrity Bowling Hall of Fame voting to be "Madness"

New Format To Use Basketball-style Tournament Brackets To Crown Next Inductee

2010BPAALogo_small.jpgFor the fourth consecutive year it's the people who will have the power to choose the next inductee into the Celebrity Bowling Hall of Fame with the launch of an American Idol-style competition that will be sheer "Madness." The excitement and anticipation will heighten with a new basketball tournament-inspired bracket that will pit some of the most popular celebrities against each other in head-to-head voting competition from March 12 - April 10, 2012

International Bowling Campus Youth Development going back to school

Corey Robinson hired to manage In-School Bowler's Ed Program

2012BPAACoreyRobinson_small.jpgThe International Bowling Campus Youth Development Department announced Corey Robinson (pictured) has been hired as the new Bowler's Ed brand manager. Robinson will be helping centers get involved with their local schools to bring an In-School bowling program to the classroom or gym. The Bowler's Ed program is designed to introduce children to bowling in the classroom. Teachers have access to a free step-by-step curriculum, a video explaining the fundamentals of bowling, and special discounts for equipment.

Super Bowl XII Champion Ed "Too Tall" Jones returns as event host; proceeds to benefit NFL Charities

2012SuperBowXLVILogo_small.jpg As Super Bowl XLVI returns to a cold weather city in Indianapolis, the seventh annual NFL Charities Super Bowl Celebrity Bowling Classic, one of the premier annual fan/player fundraisers, will be hotter and "taller" than ever in 2012. Former Super Bowl XII Champion and legend Ed "Too Tall" Jones will serve as host of the event which will take place at Woodland Bowling Center in Indianapolis, Ind. at 12 p.m. local time on Saturday, February 4. All proceeds will benefit NFL Charities.

Mort Luby Jr. donates Joe Thum painting as auction item for Salute to Bowling

20111209JoeThumPaiting_small.jpgA large (30" x 40") oil painting of bowling pioneer Joe Thum will be the star attraction at the Salute to Bowling at the 2012 Bowling Summit next month in Napa Valley, Calif. Created by Bowlers Journal International publisher emeritus Mort Luby Jr., the artwork will be featured in the collection of sports memorabilia to be auctioned at the fundraiser for the International Bowling Museum and Hall of Fame. Why Joe Thum? "I've always felt that Thum is one of bowling's unsung heroes," says Luby. "He really planted the seeds for bowling's worldwide growth."

BPAA announces Brunswick as Official Lane Provider for 2012 Bowling's U.S. Women's Open

Industry leader to construct outdoor bowling lanes for historic women's tournament

2012USWOLogo_small.jpg The BPAA has announced the completion of an agreement with Brunswick Bowling & Billiards that will make Brunswick the official sponsor of the 2012 lane build for the 2012 Bowling's U.S. Women's Open in Reno, NV. For the second consecutive year, bowling is breaking new ground at the Bowling's U.S. Women's Open, the industry's pre-eminent professional women's tournament. This year will mark the first time the tournament will be played outdoors.

The 23rd Salute will be held from 6-7:30 p.m. Monday, Jan. 23 during the 2012 BPAA Bowling Summit at the Meritage Resort in Napa Valley, Calif. Salute to Bowling helps fund operations at the International Bowling Museum and Hall of Fame in Arlington, Texas.

Attendance up at 2011 East Coast Bowling Centers Convention

The annual meeting of bowling centers owners, managers and industry professionals was held on Atlantic City's famous boardwalk at Trump's Taj Mahal October 10-12, 2011, and despite a weak economy, officials say attendance was up 5 percent.

2011IBELogo_small.jpg While the Dallas-Fort Worth area hosts the world's greatest women bowlers this week (U.S. Women's Open), the business side of the sport also will converge on the Metroplex when International Bowl Expo takes place Monday through Thursday at the Gaylord Texan Hotel and Convention Center in Grapevine. About 5,000 bowling center owners and their staffs, bowling industry leaders and local bowling association officials will take part in a variety of meetings, educational sessions, networking events and the largest trade show in the industry.

With the possibility of winning $1 million and competing at Cowboys Stadium in front of perhaps the largest crowd in bowling history, there has never been more on the line for Bowling's U.S. Women's Open defending champion Kelly Kulick (pictured). 2011USWOMidfield1_small.jpgNearly 300 of the world's best women bowlers will be seeking to compete in one of the world's largest venues when the 2011 U.S. Women's Open comes to North Texas. While the pro-am and early rounds will be held June 24-29 at AMF Euless Lanes, the televised finals will take place June 30 on specially-constructed lanes at the 50-yard line of Cowboys Stadium in Arlington. The stepladder matches will be taped for showing July 2 at 6 p.m. EDT on ESPN2.
