Flack, Barrett widen their lead in 2010 European Bowling Tour rankings

Finish 1, 2 in the women's and men's rankings in Barcelona

Flack ended the EBT Gold tournament in sixth place to widen her lead from 18 to 129 points. Barrett lost the title match in Barcelona against Gery Verbruggen but widened his lead in the men's rankings from 65 to 152 pints. The EBT takes a 5-week break before heading to Bratislava,, Slovakia (Aug. 23-29).

The European Bowling Tour is heading into the 11th season featuring 19 tour stops in 17 countries. Since the Ankara Open and the Austria Challenge have been cancelled, the 2010 EBT consists of 2 Platinum tournaments (formerly Premier), 6 Gold (formerly Major), 7 Silver (formerly Challenger) and 4 Satellite tournaments (new). The season kicked off with the Brunswick Ballmaster Open and ends with the Qatar Bowling Open. The total prize fund of the 2010 Tour will exceed 1.1 million Euro. The top 16 men and women in the EBT rankings will qualify for the 4th EBT Masters 2011.

Sanders, Maaswinkel move into 2nd and 3rd place in EBT women's rankings

Sanders cashed 150 ranking points and Maaswinkel 120 to leap into second and third place in the EBT women's rankings after 11 out of 19 stops in the 2010 season. Sanders has 434 total ranking points trailing leader Nina Flack, Sweden (452) by 18 points.

Barrett, Flack atop the rankings as 2010 European Bowling Tour reaches halfway point

2010EBT10DominicBarrett2_small.jpg2010EBT08NinaFlack_small.jpgDominic Barrett (pictured left), England, and Nina Flack (right), Sweden, sit atop the men's and women's rankings as the 2010 European Bowling Tour reached its halfway point at the 1st Track Dream-Bowl Palace Open in Unterföhring, Germany. Barrett widened his lead to 116 points due to a 4th place finish, 3rd place in the men's ranking, in Unterföhring. Flack did not compete but mainatained a 99-pin lead in the women's ranking.

The 2009 European Championships Masters gold medalist became the second player to win multiple titles on the European Bowling Tour this season en route to overtake the other two-time winner, Mika Koivuniemi (r.), Finland, by 90 ranking points.

Mika Koivuniemi regains lead in European Bowling Tour rankings

Top 4 men and women after Istanbul qualify for 2nd Federation Cup 2010

2010EBT01MikaKoivuniemi_small.jpgWith the victory in the 7th Istanbul Open, his second win on the European Bowling Tour this season and the fourth of his career, Mika Koivuniemi, Finland, regained the lead in the men's ranking. The PBA star, who has won the season-opening Brunswick Ballmaster Open in Helsinki received 150 ranking points for winning the EBT Gold tournament in Istanbul to lead the men's ranking with 418 points. The top 4 men and the top 4 women in the rankings after Istanbul qualified for the II Federation Tenpin Bowling Cup 2010 to be held July 12-14 in Barcelona, Spain.

Osku Palermaa in familiar place in European Bowling Tour ranking

No changes atop the EBT women's ranking

2010EBT07OskuPalermaa_small.jpgOsku Palermaa (pictured), the two-hander from Finland, is in a familiar place after the conclusion of the 4th Qubica/AMF Open, the 7th tournament of the 2010 European Bowling Tour, which was contested April 14-18 in Ljubljana, Slovenia. The 3-time defending European Bowling Tour ranking champion (2007-'09) lost in the semifinals against eventual winner Wendy Kok, Netherlands, to earn just enough points to pass previous leader Dominic Barrett, England, and to stand alone atop the 2010 EBT men's ranking.

No changes atop the leaderboard in European Rankings after Luxembourg

2010EBT05UlfBolleby_small.jpgThe Ebonite International Luxembourg Open, which concluded Sunday March 21, was the sixth event of the 2010 European Bowling Tour and the second EBT Satellite tournament. With just a handful of the top 20 men and women competing in Luxembourg and only 50 ranking points awarded for tournament and men's ranking winner Ulf Bolleby (pictured left), Sweden, and women's ranking winner Marilyn Planchard, France, no changes were made atop the men's and women's leaderboard.

Nina Flack overtakes lead in 2010 European Bowling Tour women's ranking

Dominic Barrett remains atop the men's ranking after Brunswick Euro Challenge

Flack went on to win the women's ranking in the EBT "Gold" tournament en route to overtake the lead in the 2010 women's ranking with 320 points. Despite missing the first cut in the BEC, Dominic Barrett (r.), England, remained atop the men's leaderboard with 325 points.

Tina Hulsch moves into second place in EBT women's ranking

Besides the 6.000 Euro top prize Barrett received 100 ranking points en route to overtake the lead in the 2010 EBT men's ranking with 325 points. In the women's division, Tina Hulsch (r.), Germany, leaped from 5th to second place with 215 ranking points.

Diana Zavjalova surges into the top 10 in EBT women's ranking

Barrett, who finished second in the rankings in the past two years, leaped one spot into second place with 245 ranking points. Diana Zavjalova (r.), Latvia, was the best of only eight women in the Wroclaw Open to surge into the top 10 in the women's rankings with 102 points.

HBS Tournament winner Dennis Eklund (l.), Sweden, and women's ranking winner Martina Beckel (r.), Germany, leaped into 10th place in the current rankings.

Koivuniemi, Tan become the first leaders of the 2010 European ranking season

Both players received 250 ranking points for winning the EBT Platinum event. The Tour takes a four-week break before heading to the Netherlands for the Hammer Bronzen Schietspoel Tournament 2010 from Feb. 7-14, 2010 at Dolfijn Bowling Tilburg

Osku Palermaa, Nicki Ainge win 2009 Men's and Women's European Bowling Tour Rankings

Top 16 qualify for EBT Masters in Vienna, Austria (May 3-4, 2010)

Finn Osku Palermaa (l.) and Nicki Ainge (r.) from England finished atop the men's and women's EBT rankings. It marked the third consecutive year that the two-hander from Finland captured the men's ranking title, while Ainge led the women for the very first time in her career.The top 16 qualified for the 2010 EBT Masters tin Vienna, Austria, May 3-4. There will be no World Ranking Master in 2010.

 In its 10th season since its inception in the year 2000, the European Bowling Tour 2009 consisted of 15 tournaments, 11 "Majors", and 4 "Challengers". The Tour visited 12 countries, Austria, Denmark, England, France, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Qatar, San Marino and Slovenia (once each) as well as Finland, Spain and Turkey (twice each). No changes among the top 10 in the men's and women's rankings after Lahti

Both defending ranking champions, Osku Palermaa (left), Finland on the men's side and Nina Flack (right), Sweden, on the women's side held on to the lead with 426 and 400 ranking points, respectively. The EBT Tour will continued this week with the Ebonite International Luxembourg Open.

Eklund, Ainge move closer to the top

2009VONickiAinge2_small.jpg2009VODennisEklund4_small.jpgDennis Eklund (left) from Sweden, and Nicki Ainge (right), England, narrowed the gap to European Ranking leaders Osku Palermaa, Finland, and Nina Flack, Sweden, to 67 and 34, after finishing 6th and 5th in the men's and women's rankings of the 7th Columbia 300 Vienna Open. Eklund (337) moved from fifth to third place with Palermaa (404) in first and Dominic Barrett (354), England, in second place. Ainge (356) leaped from fourth to second place.
