Andraunick Simounet is the surprise winner in CAGC Men's Masters

Wins final gold medal of the Central American Games for host Puerto Rico

In the best-of-three title match between the two lowest-seeded players, No. 15 Simounet defeated No. 16 Armando Batres (r.), Guatemala, two-games-to-none, to win the second gold medal for the host country. Simounet's compatriot Gabriel Sanchez and Luis Olivo, Venezuela, shared the bronze.

Karen Marcano sweeps Iliana Lomeli to win Women Masters at Centroamericanos

Clara Juliana Guerrero and Sandra Gongora share the bronze medal

In the semis, Marcano, seeded 13th, eliminated No. 16 Sandra Gongora, Mexico, and No. 2 Lomeli ousted No. 3 Clara Juliana Guerrero, Colombia. Lomeli received the silver medal while Gongora and Guerrero shared the bronze.

Venezuelan women's team follows in the footprints of the men; wins team gold at CACG

Colombia's Rocio Restrepo wins her fourth gold medal of the Games in All Events

The fivesome led the field of 10 countries with 6380 pinfall total (212.67 ave.). Mexico earned the silver medal and Colombia took the bronze. Colombia's Rocio Restrepo (right) won her fourth gold medal of the Games in All Events.

Colombia took silver and Puerto Rico got the bronze. Jose Estrada (r.), Dominican Republic, survived a late charge by Andres Gomez, Colombia, to win the gold medal in All Events by 10 pins. Alejandro Reyna, Costa Rica, took bronze.

The trio averaged 237 for the last three games to secure the title with 4027 six-game total and an average of 223.72. Mexico was 174 pins behind with 3853 to earn the silver medal with the trios from the Dominican Republic in third and fourth place with 3830 and 3816, respectively

2010CACGVENMenRestrepoGuerreroGomez_small.jpgThe Colombian women dominated the Trios event in the 21st Central American and Caribbean Games winning gold and bronze at bowling center Caribe in Ponce, Puerto Rico, Paola Gomez, Clara Juliana Guerrero and Rocio Restrepo (pictured r-l) rolled six games between 603 and 673 to win the third bowling gold for Colombia with 3843 pinfall total and an average of 213.50. Venezuela leaped three spots in the final game to earn silver, while the second Colombian trio took the bronze.

Venezuela's Patricia De Faria and men's Singles champion Luis Olivo were 70 pins behind the Colombians to earn silve. Lilia Robles and Ernesto Franco captured the first medal for Mexico by finishing in third place.

Colombia's Andres Gomez and Manuel Otalora, were 10 pins behind to take the silver medal while their compatriots Fabio Garcia and Juan Rodriguez tied with Rafael Medina and Ildemaro Ruiz, Venezuela, for the bronze medal.

Rocio Restrepo wins first gold of the 21st Central American and Caribbean Games

2009WUSORocioRestrepo3_small.jpgColombia was off to a great start into the bowling competition of the 21st Central American and Caribbean Games which got underway on Monday at Bolera Caribe in Ponce, Puerto Rico. Rocio Restrepo won the first gold medal of the Games and Clara Juliana Guerrero added a bronze medal. Sandwiched between the two Colombians was Sofia Granda, Guatemala, who took the silver medal. 72 women from 14 member federations of CONCECABOL will compete for medals in Singles Doubles, Mixed Doubles, Trios, 5-Player Teams, All Events and Masters.

The Bowling competition will be held at Bolera Caribe in Ponce from July 19-25, 2010. Maximum six men and six women from the member federation of CONCECABOL will compete for gold, silver and bronze medals in Men's and Women's Singles, Doubles, Mixed Doubles, Trios, 5-Player Teams, All Events and Masters.
