Bob Flaws of Chicago Ridge, Ill., out-lasted fellow Chicagoland regional competitor Mickey Higham of Wood Dale, Ill., to win his first PBA Senior Tour title in the PBA Senior Miller Lite Knockout Classic, presented by the Illinois State Bowling Proprietors Association, at Town and Country Lanes Tuesday. Flaws, a five-time PBA Senior regional titlist, won a sluggish title match, 181-169, after he and Higham eliminated two long-time PBA Tour stars, Wayne Webb and Hugh Miller, to set up the title match between would-be Senior Tour titlists.
PBA Hall of Famer Walter Ray Williams Jr. spent a relaxing day at home Tuesday, contemplating if not celebrating his 50th birthday. In addition to his record 46 PBA Tour titles and more than $4 million in career earnings, Oct. 6 marked the day Walter Ray Williams Jr. became eligible to begin compiling a new set of records as a PBA Senior Tour competitor. At age 50, Williams remains a remarkably physically-fit athlete. He
plays golf at near-scratch level. He's still a world-class horseshoe
player.

A roster of more than 30 of the world’s top bowling stars, including the finalists in the PBA Women’s and Senior World Championships is set for a grand finale television weekend Saturday and Sunday Sept 5 and 6 to conclude the five-week PBA World Series of Bowling. Thunderbowl’s Arena Bay in Detroit will come full circle as the site for six ESPN television events at noon, 3:30 and 7 p.m. each day. These scores may not have been broadcast on television yet. 
Reigning Professional Bowlers Association Player of the Year Wes Malott (pictured left) of Pflugerville, Texas, will get his chance to win the PBA World Championship and his first Lumber Liquidators PBA Tour major title on Dec. 13 at Northrock Lanes in Wichita, Kan. Thomas Smallwood, Rhino Page and Bill O'Neill also advanced to the finals on Dec. 13. Earning berths in the Women's World Championships title match were Shannon Pluhowsky and Kelly Kulick. Harry Sullins and Hugh Miller are the Senior World Championships finalists.

Ron Mohr (left, with Dick Weber's son John) of Eagle River, Alaska defeated Hall of Famer Tom Baker of King, N.C., to win his third PBA Senior Tour title of the season in the PBA Senior Dick Weber Open at Royal Scot Golf & Bowl Wednesday. Mohr, who won the first two Senior Tour events of the season, defeated Baker, 232-175, in the championship match to win the $8,000 first prize. Mohr now turns his attention to the last event of the season, the PBA Senior World Championship Aug. 30-Sept. 5.
Two-time Professional Bowlers Association Senior Tour winner Ron Mohr (pictured left) retained his lead in the PBA Senior Dick Weber Open Monday as the second-round qualifying leader at Royal Scot Golf & Bowl. The 53-year-old Mohr, from Eagle River, Alaska, led the 101-player field with a 3,533 16-game pinfall (220.8 average). The top 33 players advance to another eight-game qualifying round Tuesday morning. Match play continues on Wednesday to determine the top five for the stepladder finals scheduled for 7:30 p.m. ET. 
Professional Bowlers Association Hall of Famer Wayne Webb of Sacramento, Calif., averaged 230 for 16 qualifying games to pace the 32-man qualifying field in the PBA Senior Miller Lite Knockout Classic, presented by the Illinois State Bowling Proprietors Association, at Town and Country Lanes Monday. Webb, seeking his third PBA Senior Tour title, finished qualifying with a total of 3,782 pins and a 22-pin lead over Kent Wagner of Palmetto, Fla. The top 32 players will begin competition in the unique "knockout" rounds Tuesday at 10 a.m.
Four-time Professional Bowlers Association Senior Tour titlist Bob Chamberlain (pictured) averaged 246.6 to take the first-round qualifying lead Sunday in the PBA Senior Miller Lite Knockout Classic, presented by the Illinois State Bowling Proprietors Association, at Town and Country Lanes. Chamberlain, who won his last title in 2003, rolled games of 234, 290, 183, 266, 236, 247, 257 and 260 for an eight-game total of 1,973 pins and a 45-pin lead over Senior U.S. Open champion Wayne Webb of Sacramento, Calif. The 117-player field will bowl another eight-game qualifying round on
Monday after which the field will be cut to the top 32 players.

As the Professional Bowlers Association Senior Tour continues its Midwestern swing, defending champion Brian Brazeau (pictured left) of Ocala, Fla., heads a list of the world's top senior players who will compete in the PBA Senior Decatur Open Aug. 8-11 at Spare Time Lanes in Decatur, Ill. In dramatic fashion, Brazeau came from a 23-pin deficit in the championship match to defeat Wayne Webb, 245-244, in last year's Decatur event. The field of approximately 100 players, ages 50 and older, will begin
competition with eight-game qualifying blocks on Aug. 9-10 at 9 a.m.
and 4 p.m.
