Key strike by New Orleans Hornets' star fuels comeback in second annual fund-raising event

The duo defeated LaMarr Woodley (r.) and Norm Duke in the title match, 180-177.

Sunday's Chris Paul PBA Celebrity Invitational features a-list lineup

PBAEst1958_small.jpgWith the help of four Lumber Liquidators PBA Tour stars and a star-studded lineup of celebrities, New Orleans Hornets All-Star point guard Chris Paul will again highlight his "second-favorite sport" in the second annual Chris Paul PBA Celebrity Invitational which airs Sunday at 2 p.m. Eastern on ESPN. Celebrity icons Chris "Ludacris" Bridges, Hines Ward, LaMarr Woodley Jack Del Rio teamed with PBA stars Pete Weber, Norm Duke, Wes Malott and Jason Belmonte in a unique doubles competition to benefit Paul's CP3 Foundation.

Barnes sparks Team GEICO to victory in GEICO PBA Team Shootout

GEICO PBA Team Shootout showdown set for Sunday with Final Four ESPN telecasts

2009GeicoShootoutTeamgeico_small.jpgThe GEICO PBA Team Shootout Hosted by Six Flags heads down the homestretch this Sunday when the championship rounds air beginning at 1 p.m. Eastern on ESPN.  After week 3, Team GEICO (pictured left) clinched a berth in the championship round with a 5-2 match play record. Sunday’s opening telecast will be the final round-robin match that will determine whether Team Lumber Liquidators or Team Bayer will advance to the championship round to battle Team GEICO in a series of singles, doubles and Baker-style team matches for the $108,000 first prize.

After 11 total matches in round-robin competition, Team Lumber Liquidators and Team Bayer are battling for the second spot with 3-4 and 3-5 records, respectively.

ESPN to air seven GEICO PBA Team Shootout matches this Sunday

Team GEICO, with Lumber Liquidators Professional Bowlers Association Tour stars Chris Barnes, Patrick Allen, Mike Wolfe, Mika Koivuniemi, reigning Player of the Year Wes Malott and Brad Angelo, has taken a 2-1 lead after four round-robin matches in the made-for-TV team tournament.

Team GEICO takes lead in GEICO PBA Team Shootout after four matches

After an opening match loss in Week 1, Team GEICO, with Lumber Liquidators PBA Tour stars Chris Barnes, Patrick Allen, Mike Wolfe, Mika Koivuniemi, Wes Malott and Brad Angelo, rallied to a 2-1 record after four round-robin matches in the GEICO PBA Team Shootout Hosted by Six Flags. The made-for-TV outdoor event, televised by ESPN and conducted on specially-constructed lanes at New Jersey’s Six Flags Great Adventure theme park, features three of the best teams ever assembled.

Round-robin match play continues this Sunday with four more matches televised on ESPN beginning at 1 p.m. Eastern. In all, viewers will be able to watch two hours of competition in the made-for-TV event.

Team Bayer takes early lead in GEICO PBA Team Shootout

2009GeicoShootoutTeamBayer_small.jpgTeam Bayer, featuring Lumber Liquidators Professional Bowlers Association Tour stars Rhino Page, Michael Fagan, Bill O'Neill, Sean Rash, two-hander Jason Belmonte and Tommy Jones, took a 1-0 lead after the first day of GEICO PBA Team Shootout competition. The GEICO PBA Team Shootout Hosted by Six Flags was conducted outdoors on specially-constructed lanes at Six Flags Great Adventure in Jackson, N.J., June 11-13. Round-robin team matches air Sundays on ESPN through July 12.

Malott records perfect ending to "King of Bowling" series

Record second televised 300 game confirms his PBA Player of the Year status

PBA Player of the Year Wes Malott of Pflugerville, Texas, became the first bowler in PBA history to bowl two nationally-televised 300 games, defeating Parker Bohn III of Jackson, N.J., 300-223, in the King of Bowling by Amp Energy series finale at Kegel Training Center. The victory, televised Wednesday on ESPN2, was Malott's fifth consecutive as he swept the King of Bowling series, earning a grand total of $50,000.

2009PBAKoBONolenMalottPage_small.jpgPBA Player of the Year Wes Malott (center) of Pflugerville, Texas, felt his King of Bowling crown slipping off his head, but staged an amazing rally to defeat 2007-08 PBA Rookie of the Year Rhino Page (pictured right) of Topeka, Kan., 257-233, in the fourth installment of the special competition at Kegel Training Center. Trailing Page by 32 pins in the fifth frame of the King of Bowling Powered by Amp Energy event, Malott threw seven strikes in a row and got a couple of breaks from Page to retain his crown.

In the third weekly installment of the King of Bowling Powered by Amp Energy series, Malott was perfect in winning another $10,000 King of Bowling prize and becoming the fourth PBA player to throw a nationally-televised 300 game at the winningest bowler in PBA Tour history.

Handed the advantage when Allen failed to convert the 2-4-6-10 split in his opening frame, Malott struck on eight of his first nine shots to lock up his second straight $10,000 King of Bowling prize.

Newly-crowned PBA Player of the Year turns back Barnes in first Amp Energy test

2009PBAKoBWesMalott_small.jpgNewly-crowned Professional Bowlers Association Player of the Year Wes Malott of Pflugerville, Texas, withstood the first challenge to his reign as King of Bowling, defeating Chris Barnes of Double Oak, Texas, in the inaugural King of Bowling Powered by Amp Energy telecast. Trailing Barnes by nine pins after four frames, Malott when went on a seven-strike binge, racing away to a 268-214 victory after Barnes lost his carry. In the next show, Malott will bowl the winner of a match between Patrick Allen and Mike Scroggins.

Six Flags to host 15 PBA stars for Summer Series III

New Jersey Theme Park to host outdoor bowling competition in June

200809PBAWesMalott_small.jpg Fifteen of the Lumber Liquidators PBA Tour's top competitors from the 2008-09 season will test their skills at "outdoor bowling" for the third year in a row when Six Flags in Jackson, N.J., hosts the Six Flags Summer Series III June 11-14. The annual event will involve three five-player teams in a unique round-robin competition contested on lanes built in Six Flags' New Jersey Park. ESPN will air the competition on a tape-delayed basis. Dates and times will be announced later. Wes Malott (pictured) of Pflugerville, Texas, is the only player qualified thus far, based upon his points victory in the six-tournament Versatility Swing.

PBA and NBA stars team up for Charity Bowling Event

First time pro athletes from other sports partner with PBA for Oct. 19 ESPN telecast

The event will air on ESPN on Oct. 19 at 1 p.m. EDT. The event was held in conjunction with the Third annual Chris Paul's Winston-Salem Weekend, the signature fundraising event of the CP3 Foundation.

NBA stars ready to test skills on the lanes

2008ChrisPaulChrisBarnes_small.jpg The much-anticipated Chris Paul PBA Celebrity Invitational presented by the brands of Ebonite International will be taking place this Saturday in Winston-Salem, N.C. at AMF Major League Lanes. The event will air on ESPN on Sunday, Oct. 19 to kick off the 2008-09 PBA Tour season, the 50th Anniversary Season. The Invitational marks the first time professional athletes from other sports will partner with professional bowlers for a bowling event with a dedicated telecast.
