2010VOLogo_small.jpgThe 8th annual Columbia 300 Vienna Open is the 15th stop of the 2010 European Bowling Tour and one of the Tour's "Gold" events. The tournament will be held from Tuesday Sep. 28 through Sunday Oct. 3, 2010 at 32-lane Plus Bowling in Vienna, Austria. As of today, 260 players from 25 countries including several male and female professional bowlers have registered for the popular event. Paul Moor wins 2010 Kegel London International

One day after finishing second in the BNC Bratislava Open, Paul Moor, England, captured the title in the 2010 Kegel London International at Airport Bowl in London. In the title match in double-elimination format over two games total pinfall, Moor defeated compatriot Matt Chamberlain, 489-385, to lift the trophy for the second time after 2003. The 3-time European Bowling Tour ranking champion and EBT Masters winner took a huge 88-pin lead after winning the first game 558-170, and cruised to the title with a 231-215 in game #2.

Wendy Kok moves into second place in EBT women's ranking in Bratislava

Flack, Barrett maintain pole position in 2010 European Bowling Tour rankings

2010EBT07WendyKok_small.jpgWendy Kok (l.), Netherlands, was the sole player of the top 16 in the EBT women's ranking, who participated in the BNC Bratislava Open, which ended on Sunday Aug. 29th at BNC Bowling Center in Bratislava, Slovakia. Kok finished 39th in the tournament and 5th in the women's ranking to earn 50 ranking points en route to leap from third to second place in the 2010 women's ranking with 490 points. Women's ranking leader Nina Flack Sweden, and her male counterpart, Dominic Barrett, England, maintained the lead.

In a close title match the two Germans topped Nicolas Guillaume and Fredéric Janzen (right), both Switzerland, 376 to 359, to wrap up the title.

Thomas Gross defeats Paul Moor to win BNC Bratislava Open

Mortensen, Backe achieve perfection in Final Round 3; Dulce Fernandez wins Women Ranking

2010EBT13ThomasGrossPaulMoor_small.jpgAustria's No. 1 bowler, Thomas Gross (l.) defeated Paul Moor (r.), England, to win the BNC Bratislava Open Sunday, Aug 29th at BNC Bowling Center in Bratislava, Slovakia. In the championship match over two games total pinfall, Gross held a comfortable 45-pin lead after the first game (248- 203) and cruised to victory with a 214-193 in game #2 and 462-396 overall. Gross received 5.000 Euro  for his fourth career European Bowling Tour title. Moor pocketed 3.000 Euro for second place.

The European Bowling Tour is heading into the 11th season featuring 19 tour stops in 17 countries. Since the Ankara Open and the Austria Challenge have been cancelled, the 2010 EBT consists of 2 Platinum tournaments (formerly Premier), 6 Gold (formerly Major), 7 Silver (formerly Challenger) and 4 Satellite tournaments (new). The season kicked off with the Brunswick Ballmaster Open and ends with the Qatar Bowling Open. The total prize fund of the 2010 Tour will exceed 1.1 million Euro. The top 16 men and women in the EBT rankings will qualify for the 4th EBT Masters 2011.

The Danish national team member had a high series of 1434 , an average of 239.00 for six games. Gianny Hendrickx (r.), Belgium, fired a huge 267 game to easily win the Desperado squad which offered the last four spots for the finals on Sunday.

Vintens, Oldfield claim back-to-back ISBT titles in Belgian Senior Open

2010ISBT06LilianeVintensRonOldfield_small.jpgJust two weeks after their victory in the 5th Schiedam Senior Open, Ron Oldfield (right), England and Liliane Vintens (left), Belgium, won back-to-back International Seniors Bowling Tour titles by winning the men's and women's division in the Belgian Senior Open at Bowlmaster in Brussels, Belgium. Oldfield won his fourth ISBT title by mere four pins over André Geelen, Belgium, while Vintens had a 67-pin cushion over Angie Brown, England, to win her second title in the women's division.

Franz Hahn cracks 1400-bar to overtake the lead in BNC Bratislava Open

Qualifying in Bratislava reaches halfway point

2010EBT13FranzHahn_small.jpgFranz Hahn (l.), Austria, become the first player who cracked the 1400-bar as the qualifying of the BNC Bratislava Open has reached the halfway mark. With 12 out of 24 squads in the books, Hahn leads the field of 169 players  from 14 countries with 1404 six-game total (234 ave.) For the third and last day the top 4 daily leaders earned automatic berths into the finals on Sunday. Joining Hahn in the finals are Jiří Hindrák of the Czech Republic, Slovenia's Darko Tiselj, and Artur Levikin, Lithuania.

Starting in Squad 7 on Tuesday afternoon, Thomas (pictured left) posted a 1375 six-game series including a high game of 279 with Ivonne (right) close behind at 1333 including 48 pins women's handicap. Joining the couple in the finals from Tuesday's squads were Marek Kečkéš and Ján Debnár, both Slovakia

2010EBT13RobertZahora3_small.jpgThe 13th event of the 2010 European Bowling Tour, the BNC Bratislava Open, got underway Monday with four qualifying squads at BNC Bowling Center in Bratislava, Slovakia. Róbert Záhora (l.), Slovakia, set the pace after the first day with 1304 six-game total and an average of 217.33. Michal Vceliš, Czech Republic, was second with 1298, followed by Squad 1 leader Ladislav Bitto, Slovakia, in third with 1284 and Squad 4 leader Diego Biolghini, Italy, in fourth with 1266. The top 4 players are automatically qualified for the finals on Sunday.

Brunswick Euro Challenge receives EBT Platinum status in 2011

Tournament features 106.000 Euro prize fund, round robin and 3-player stepladder final

2010EBT05BECLogo_small.jpgThe 2011 Brunswick Euro Challenge has been granted "Platinum" status for the 2011 European Bowling Tour by the European Tenpin Bowling Federation (ETBF). The total prize fund will increase by 16.000 Euro to a total prize fund of 106.000 Euro. The organizers have also changed the format of the finals. The 2011 Brunswick Euro Challenge will be held from March 4th through 13th at Le Plaza Bowling in St. Maxim at the outskirts of Paris, France. The 2011 EBT consists of 22 tournaments.

Neil Sullivan, Sue Abela win 2010 MTBA National Championships

2010MaltaNCNeilSullivanJulianPaceBonelloSueAbela_small.jpgThe 2010 Malta Tenpin Bowling Association National Championships were conducted recently at the Eden SuperBowl in St. Julian's, where Malta's top tenpin bowlers competed in separate male and female categories for the most prestigious honor on the local scene. After three sessions and a total of 24 games, the 2010 champions are Neil Sullivan and Sue Abela in their respective divisions. While it was the first victory for Sullivan, Abela clinched the fourteenth championship title of her illustrious bowling career.

Björn Einar Rudshagen and Line Berg Almestrand (l-r) walked away the winners in the men's and women's division of the 2010 Evje Open International in Evje, Norway. The eventual winners took different routes to the title. Rudsgagen, seeded third, had to win two matches before he defetaed top seeded Frode Olaussen twice to win the 3.660 Euro top prize. Top seeded Almestrand wrapped up the women's title, worth 1.830 Euro, with a 237-191 win over Ann Louise Haugen Andersen.

Ron Oldfield wins his third ISB Tour title in Schiedam Senior Open

2010ISBT05LilianeVintensRonOldfield_small.jpgRon Oldfield, England and Liliane Vintens, Belgium, (pictured left) captured the men's and women's title in the 5th Schiedam Senior Open, the fifth stop of the inaugural International Seniors Bowling Tour which was held from July 27 through Aug. 1 at Chandra Schiedam in Schiedam, Netherlands. It was the third title on the Tour for Oldfield who also won the first and the third event in Monheim, and in Buxtehude, both Germany. Vintens, who is the president of the ISB Tour, celebrated her first victory.

World Sports Festival 2010

2010WSFLogo_small.jpg Several thousand youth athletes from 27 countries competed in 9 sports, basketball, bowling, soccer, wrestling, swimming, tennis, table tennis, volleyball and racketlon in the World Sports Festival from July 9th thru 11th in Vienna, Austria. The Bowling Championships at the World Sports Festival 2010 featured two events: Mixed Trios and Singles, both on a handicap basis. For the first time in the WSF bowling competition England has brought some handicapped bowlers to the event.

Flack, Barrett widen their lead in 2010 European Bowling Tour rankings

Finish 1, 2 in the women's and men's rankings in Barcelona

Flack ended the EBT Gold tournament in sixth place to widen her lead from 18 to 129 points. Barrett lost the title match in Barcelona against Gery Verbruggen but widened his lead in the men's rankings from 65 to 152 pints. The EBT takes a 5-week break before heading to Bratislava,, Slovakia (Aug. 23-29).

It was the 10th career EBT title for the 4-time European Bowling Tour ranking champion (2000-'03) and the first since 2008. BT Ranking leader Nina Flack, Sweden, finished in 6th place to win the women's rankings.
