Liza Clutario starts 22nd Asian Intercity Tenpin Bowling Championship with victory in Women's Singles

2008AIBCLizaClutario.jpg Liza Clutario (pictured) from Paranaque City, Philippines, captured the gold medal in the Women's Singles event at the 22nd Asian Intercity Tenpin Bowling Championship in Macau, China.

The World Champion in Trios (2003, Malaysia) was the only player among the 46 women from 13 cities who managed to average over 200. Clutario used high games of 243 and 224 for 1235 six-game total and an average of 205.83.

Sam Chan from Taipa, Macau, was on course for gold after four games with 844, but had to settle for the silver medal behind 168 and 183 games and 1195 pinfall total (199.17).

New Hui Fen took the bronze medal with 1193. Filomena Choi, Macau City, Macau, started with 643, but slipped out of the medals to fourth place (1175) behind 532 for the last three games.

Clutario's team mate in the 2003 gold medal trio, Cecilia Yap, also from Paranaque, started with a disastrous 496 series, but rebounded with the field-best 667 to jump into 5th place with 1163.

Un Im Cheng, Taipa, Macau, who ended in a tie for 18th place with 1106, had the highest game with 277. The 22nd Asian Intercity Tenpin Bowling Championships will run until Friday, Dec. 5, at Macau Bowling Center, a 24-laner located in the Cotai International Sports Complex in Macau, China.

46 women and 80 men representing 21 cities will compete in Singles, Doubles, Team, All-Events and Masters.

Cities that have registered with four men and four women will also compete for the City Champion Cup for men and for women and the Satoh Cup, the Overall City Champion Cup, named after the late founding member, Mr. Shinto Satoh.

The 21 participating cities are Taipei City from Chinese Taipei, Tamuning from Guam, Hong Kong City, Happy Valley, Kowloon and Victoria from Hong Kong, Bangalore, Chennai and Delhi from India, Daegu, Pohang and Uiwang from Korea, Kuantan and Shah Alam from Malaysia, Macau City, Coloane and Taipa from Macau, Saipan, Paranaque City and Pasay City from the Philippines and Singapore.
