Perfect game propels Daegu duo to the title in Men's Doubles at 22nd Asian Intercity Tenpin Bowling Championship

2008AIBCLeeTaeJuKimYoungPyo.jpg Kim Young Pyo and Lee Tae Ju (r-l) from Daegu in Korea had games between 410 and 494 to cruise to the title in Men's Doubles in the 22nd Asian Intercity Tenpin Bowling Championship at Macau Bowling Center in Macau, China.

Kim highlighted the series with the championships' first 300 in game #3 to help grab the gold medal with 2717 pinfall total and an average of 226.41. Kim led the duo with 1453 (242.17) and Lee, who won bronze in Singles yesterday, added 1264 (210.67).

Brian Manibusan and John John Ada, Tamuning, Guam, used 3-game series of 1339 and 1321 to capture the silver medal. Manibusan had the field-best 1469 series (244.83) and Ada added 1191 for 2660 (221.67).

Michael Tsang and Ken Lin of Hong Kong City led the competition after three games with 1449 but slipped to third place behind 1178 for the last three games. The duo took the bronze medal with 2627 (218.92).

Places 4-6 belonged to Korean Doubles. Shin Sung Hoon and Kim Jong Hyun, Daegu, were fourth with 2613, with Won Jong Yoon/Choi Won Young and Kong Byoung Hee/Cha Ji Hyun, both Uiwang, in fifth and sixth place with 2543 and 2533, respectively.

The 22nd Asian Intercity Tenpin Bowling Championships will run until Friday, Dec. 5, at Macau Bowling Center, a 24-laner located in the Cotai International Sports Complex in Macau, China.

46 women and 80 men representing 21 cities will compete in Singles, Doubles, Team, All-Events and Masters.

Cities that have registered with four men and four women will also compete for the City Champion Cup for men and for women and the Satoh Cup, the Overall City Champion Cup, named after the late founding member, Mr. Shinto Satoh.

The 21 participating cities are Taipei City from Chinese Taipei, Tamuning from Guam, Hong Kong City, Happy Valley, Kowloon and Victoria from Hong Kong, Bangalore, Chennai and Delhi from India, Daegu, Pohang and Uiwang from Korea, Kuantan and Shah Alam from Malaysia, Macau City, Coloane and Taipa from Macau, Saipan, Paranaque City and Pasay City from the Philippines and Singapore.
