USBCCoachingLogo.jpgThe United States Bowling Congress Web site, bowl.com, now features a live Web cam that allows visitors to watch as construction progresses on the International Training and Research Center.

The Web cam provides a broad landscape view of the construction site and will be operational weekdays from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. CST until construction is completed.

The International Training and Research Center is a joint project of USBC and the Bowling Proprietors' Association of America (BPAA).

"The International Training and Research Center will be a state-of-the art facility that will greatly advance USBC and BPAA initiatives in coaching, elite training and high-level research," said Neil Stremmel, USBC Vice President - National Governing Body.

"As bowling's National Governing Body, USBC is very excited about this facility, and we think bowlers will be, too. With that in mind, we thought it would be fun to let them watch the building take shape before their eyes."

Upon completion, which is forecast for fall 2009, the International Training and Research Center will include 14 lanes for training and six for research and testing of bowling equipment. Four lanes will be specially designed and equipped for broadcast television finals.

High-tech tools in the test center's research area will include a robotic ball thrower, computer ball tracking system and state-of-the-art biomechanics technology that includes grip pressure, foot pressure and motion capture, which uses a sensor array and computer system to precisely track bodily movements of bowlers.

Plans call for coaches to use that technology on the test center lanes to coach Team USA, Junior Team USA, national teams from World Tenpin Bowling Association countries and possibly coaches who want to train in the facility. In addition, the center likely will be available for a fee to bowlers who want to take high-tech coaching lessons.
