Daniel Falconi cruises to victory in American Zone Ranking Final

2005AmZCDanielFalconi.jpg Daniel Falconi of Mexico rolled the third-highest series on the final day of qualifying to cruise to victory in the men's division of the American Zone Ranking Final at El Dorado Bowling Center in Panama City, Panama.

Falconi, who took the lead after the second block, had a 1630 eight-game total on dual lane condition (one lane short oil, one lane long oil) to finish the three-day competition with 5027 pinfall total and an average of 209,46.

The American Zone Ranking Final concluded the 2005 American Zone ranking season. All players bowled three 8-game blocks on short oil (34 feet), long oil (43 feet) and on short/long oil condition over three days to determine the eight men who will participate in the 2006 World Ranking Masters in Kuwait.

Trailing Falconi by 154 pins to sit in second place was Luis RodrĂ­guez of Puerto Rico. Rodrigues was second after each block and totaled 4873 pins, an average of 203,04. Mark Buffa, Canada, leaped one spot into third place behind a 1606-series on the final day to finish with 4839 and a 201,63 average.

The fourth and final player in the field with a 200-plus average was Ed Roberts of the United States. Roberts had a 4804 24-game total, an average of 200,17. Joining those four in Kuwait are three Colombians, Armando Gómez (5th, 4782), David Romero (7th, 4756), Johan Hernández, (8th, 4738) and Edgardo Ruiz, Puerto Rico (6th, 4767).

Juliano Oliveira of Brazil rolled the highest eight-game series on Friday with 1649, but missed the cut by 24 pins to finish in ninth place with 4714.
