Luz Adriana Leal holds on to the qualifying lead in Catalonia Open

Luz Adriana Leal, Colombia, held on to qualifying lead in VIII Catalonia Open - Trofeu Galasa after the conclusion of Squads 7 an8 Friday night at Bowling Pedralbes in Barcelona, Spain.
The long-time Colombian national team member leads a field of 107 players from 16 countries with 1366 including 48 pins handicap, a standard for women on the European Bowling Tour.
Thomas Larsen (right), Denmark, was second with 1362, Dominic Barrett, England, was in third place with 1352 and Yoan Alix, France, was fourth with 1349. All four players are already qualified for the finals by virtue of winning one of the 12 qualifying squads.
With four squads to go on Saturday, Peter Ljung (5th, 1346), Sweden, and 2-time Women's World Champion Clara Juliana Guerrero (6th, 1338), Colombia, lead rest of the field who are targeting for one of 30 spots (if there will be 12 different squad leaders) to advance from the qualifying.

The VIII Catalonia Open - Trofeu Galasa will be held from Feb., 23-28, 2010 at Bowling Pedralbes in Barcelona, Spain, and offers total prize fund of 44.700 Euro. The tournament is the fourth stop of the 2010 European Bowling Tour and one of the Tour's "Silver" tournaments.
The 2010 EBT Tour features 2 EBT Platinum tournament (formerly Premier), 7 EBT Gold tournaments (formerly Major), 8 EBT Silver tournaments (formerly Challenger) and 4 EBT Satellite tournaments (new category).

Qualifying runs through Saturday evening, Feb. 27, with the final Squad 12 scheduled for 9 p.m. local time.
A total of 48 players, the top 42 qualifiers including all squad leaders plus the next six women will advance to the finals and carry forward 50 per cent of their respective qualifying total into Round 1.
Those 48 players will bowl 4 games to cut to the top 24 with the pinfall total being carried forward. Those 24 will determine the top three players for the stepladder finals in another 4-game block. In the semifinal, the No. 3 seed takes on No. 2 for the right to bowl the top seeded player for the title and the 6.000 Euro top prize.
