Mark Williams named June BWAA Bowler of the Month

2010PBAS05MarkWilliams.jpgMark Williams (pictured) of Beaumont, Texas, has been named the June 2010 Kegel Bowler of the Month by the Bowling Writers Association of America.

Williams, a Professional Bowlers Association (PBA) Hall of Famer (1999, Performance), won his first major PBA Senior title, the 2010 PBA Senior U.S. Open. Starting the stepladder final as the second seed, he downed fellow PBA Hall of Famer Dave Ferraro, Kingston, New York in the semifinal, 221-188, before defeating Ron Mohr, Eagle River, Alaska, 198-181 in the title match.

This marks the third career major title for Williams. He also captured the 1985 and 1988 PBA Tournament of Champions crowns.

Others receiving votes were Wayne Webb, Columbus, Ohio, winner of the USBC Senior Masters, and Don Sylvia, winner, PBA Senior Northern California Classic.
