Sanders, Maaswinkel move into 2nd and 3rd place in EBT women's rankings

Koivuniemi, Palermaa narrow the gap to men's leader Barrett

2010EBT11PriscillaMaaswinkel.jpg2010EBT11NicoleSanders.jpgNicole Sanders (pictured left) and Priscilla Maaswinkel (right), both Netherlands, finished 1, 2 in the women's ranking in the 6th Storm San Marino Open, which concluded Sunday, July 11th at Rose'n Bowl in Serravalle, San Marino.

Sanders cashed 150 ranking points and Maaswinkel 120 to leap into second and third place in the EBT women's rankings after 11 out of 19 stops in the 2010 season. Sanders has 434 total ranking points trailing leader Nina Flack, Sweden (452) by 18 points.

Maaswinkel is tied with Tina Hulsch, Germany, at 353 points. Places 5-7 also belong to Dutch bowlers. Ghislaine van der Tol, who won the Dream Bowl Palace in Unterföhring, Germany, earlier this month, is fifth with 350 points.

2010EBT11MikaKoivuniemi.jpg2010EBT11OskuPalermaa.jpgWendy Kok, who won the Bowling Center Gladiator in Ljubljana, Slovenia, in April, is sixth with 335 and Lisanne Breeschoten is seventh at 333.

On the men's side, Dominic Barrett, England, remained atop the leaderboard but Finns Mika Koivuniemi (pictured left)  and 3-time defending ranking champion Osku Palermaa (right) narrowed the gap to 65 and 101 points. Barrett leads the field with 659 total points, with Koivuniemi in second (594) and Palermaa in third (558).

Dane Thomas Larsen is fourth with 404, while Gery Verbruggen, Belgium, is fifth with 396. San Marino Open champion, Chris Loschetter, United States, leaped from a tied 97th place to 17th with 178 total points.

2010EBTLogo_small.jpg Since the Ankara Open and the Austria Challenge have been cancelled, the 2010 EBT Tour consists of 19 events - 2 EBT Platinum tournament (formerly Premier), 6 EBT Gold tournaments (formerly Major), 7 EBT Silver tournaments (formerly Challenger) and 4 EBT Satellite tournaments (new category).

The winner of a Platinum tournament receives 250 ranking points, the winner of a Gold tournament such as the 6th Storm San Marino Open gets 150, the winner of a Silver tournament gets 100, and the winner of a Satellite tournament gets 50 ranking points.

The top 50 men and the top 50 women in each tournament of the 2010 European Bowling Tour will cash ranking points no matter from which country or World Tenpin Bowling Association Zone (Europe, Asia, America) he or she comes.

The top 16 men and the top 16 women at the end of the 2010 EBT season will qualify for the 2011 EBT Masters to be held at Gladiator Arena in Ljubljana, Slovenia, April 11-12, 2011.

The European Bowling Tour is in Barcelona, Spain, this week for the 32nd Trofeu Internacional Ciutat de Barcelona at Bowling Pedralbes. The finals will be on Sunday, July 18th.
