United States dominate Doubles event at Tournament of The Americas

USA wins 4/8 medals, Colombia 2, and Canada and Dominican Republic 1 each

2010ToACassidySchaubChrisBardol.jpg2010ToALucySandelinCarolTeel.jpgThe United States dominated the Doubles competition in the 48th Lee Evans Tournament of The Americas winning four out of eight gold medals at Boardwalk Bowl in Orlando, Fla.

The U.S. bowlers claimed the title in all but one male division (Adult, Junior A and B) and in one female division (Senior).

Chris Bardol teamed with Cassidy Schaub (above left, r-l), a two-handed lefty to win the Male Adult division with 2611 or an average of 217.58. Lucy Sandelin and Carol Teel (above right, l-r) captured the Female Senior title with 2315 (192.92).

2010ToAMikeConnKyleKing.jpg2010ToADanielleLemoineMelissaCourchesne.jpgMike Conn and Kyle King (left, l-r) posted the field-best 2635 six-game total (219.58) to win in Male Junior A (ages 16-19), while Michael Coffey and Greg Young Jr. topped Male Junior B (ages 12-15) with 2564 (213.67).

Colombia took two gold medals. Heriberto Florez and Jhimy Gauldron led the Senior Male division with 2485 (207.08) and Juliana Franco and Andrea Novoa were the best of just three doubles in Junior Female B with 2159 (179.92).

Canada's Melissa Courchesne and Danielle Lemoine (right, r-l) led all female doubles with 2523 and an average of 210.25 en route to win the Junior Female A division. The title in Adult Female went to Aumi Guerra and Paola Mendez, Dominican Republic, who totaled 2454 (204.50).

The invitational competition for countries of PABCON (Pan American Bowling Confederation - the American Zone of World Tenpin Bowling Association) has four divisions for men and women: Adult, Senior (ages 50-plus), Junior A (ages 16-19) and Junior B (ages 12-15).

In each division, one team comprised of two men and two women compete in Singles, Doubles, Mixed Doubles and Team event throughout the week-long tournament. After 36 games, Individual All-Events and National All-Events champions are recognized.
