Vintens, Oldfield claim back-to-back ISBT titles in Belgian Senior Open

2010ISBT06LilianeVintensRonOldfield.jpgJust two weeks after their victory in the 5th Schiedam Senior Open, Ron Oldfield (right), England and Liliane Vintens (left), Belgium, won back-to-back International Seniors Bowling Tour titles by winning the men's and women's division in the Belgian Senior Open at Bowlmaster in Brussels, Belgium.

Oldfield battled it out with local favorite, lefty André Geelen, in the men's 7-game round robin match play including age bonus, bonus for games over 200 and over 250 and 20 pins bonus per win.

2010ISBT06AndreGeelenRonOldfiledLaurenceEllis.jpgWhen the dust had settled, Oldfield defeated Geelen by mere four pins, 3910 to 3906. to claim his fourth ISBT title out of six events. Oldfield's compatriot, Lol Ellis was 105 pins behind Geelen in third place.

2010ISBT06AngieBrownLilianeVintensMariannePelz.jpgOn the women's side, Vintens pulled away with back-to-back 220s and never looked back. She finished with 2846 total pinfall including all bonuses, 67 pins ahead of Flanders Senior Open winner Angie Brown, England, in second place with 2779 and Marianne Pelz, Germany, in third at 2678.

50 to 55 year-old players did not receive any age bonus, a 56-year-old got 1 pin handicap per game, a 57 year-old got 2 pins, and so on. Maximum handicap was 20 pins per game.

The top 40 men advanced to the quarterfinals to bowl 4 games with the previous pinfall total being carried forward. The top 16 advanced to the semifinals. The top 16 men and the top 16 female qualifiers bowled four games previous pinfall total being carried forward to cut to the top 8 men and the top 8 women for round robin. 50 per cent of the pinfall total was carried forward. The total pinfall after seven match play games including all bonuses decided the winner.

The inaugural International Seniors Bowling Tour season continues with the French Senior Open from Sept. 1-5, 2010 at Planet Bowling in Lomme, France.
